MEET YOUR COACH
Hi, I'm Matt, founder of Modus Personal Training.
I'm a Level 3 Personal Trainer with over 12 years of experience helping people become stronger, fitter, and more confident. After working in a range of commercial gyms, including as a Platinum Trainer at David Lloyd, I now coach clients from my private PT studio in Guildford, where I live with my wife and two daughters.
For me, fitness is about more than just looking good - it's about feeling better, both physically and mentally. I specialise in strength training, muscle building, fat loss, and general fitness, using proven methods tailored to your goals, experience level, and lifestyle. I encourage my clients to learn compound exercises such as squats, deadlifts, presses, and rows, as these movements are some of the most effective ways to build strength and improve fitness. I also incorporate HIIT (high intensity interval training) where appropriate for conditioning and overall health.
From complete beginners to experienced gym users, I provide expert coaching and nutrition guidance, ongoing accountability, and personalised programmes designed to deliver lasting results.
